Shift Cable: Service and Repair

Removal

CAUTION: Disconnect the battery ground cable.

1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the LH inner fender splash shield.
- Remove the bolts.





3. Disconnect the shift cable and the selector cable from the gearshift lever and the gear selector lever on the transmission.
- Remove the shift cable from the bracket by twisting the bracket counterclockwise, and pull it downwards out of the engine compartment.
- Lower the vehicle.

4. Remove the air cleaner.





1 Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) electrical connector.
2 Loosen the hose clamp.
3 Disconnect the vacuum hose.
4 Unhook the rubber retainer.

- Remove the intake hose.





5. Remove the selector cable.
- Remove the selector cable from the bracket by twisting the bracket counterclockwise, and pull it downwards out of the engine compartment.

6. Remove the floor console.





7. Disconnect the shift cable and the selector cable from the gearshift lever.
- Remove the cables by twisting the bracket counterclockwise.





8. Remove the screw from the air duct and push the air duct upwards.





9. Cut the carpet open and push it to the side.





10. Disconnect the shift cable and the selector cable from the floor assembly and push them out from the passenger compartment.

Installation





1. To install; reverse the removal procedure.
- Adjust the shifter cable.
