Gearshift Control Shaft

Special Tools:

Disassembly





1. Remove the reversing lamp switch.





2. Remove the reversing lamp actuating pin.





3. Remove the gearshift lever and the cover of the internal selector mechanism.





4. Remove the bolts and disconnect the selector gate and selector shaft from the selector mechanism housing.
- Remove the springs.

5. Remove the selector shaft.





1 Remove the bolt.
2 Pull out the selector shaft.
3 Remove the selector finger and bracket.





6. Remove the snap-ring and washer from the selector shaft.





7. Using the special tool, drive the ball sleeve out of the selector gate.





8. Loosen the bolt and remove the guide bracket.
9. Remove the gearshift and selector lever shafts.





1 Remove the gearshift lever shaft.
2 Remove the selector lever shaft.

- Remove the ball joint.





10. Remove the oil seals.





11. Drive out the two bearings downward using a suitable driver.

Assembly





1. Drive in the upper bearing of the gearshift lever shaft using a suitable driver.





2. Drive the seals in with a suitable driver as far as the stop.





3. Install the lower bearing with the gearshift lever shaft.





4. Adjust the gearshift lever shaft end float by tapping on it lightly.





5. Install the selector lever shaft and the guide bracket with the ball joint.





6. Using the special tool, drive in the ball sleeve.





7. Slide the snap-ring and washer onto the selector shaft.
8. Assemble the selector finger and bracket.





1 Position the selector finger.
2 Position the selector finger bracket.





9. Install the selector finger bracket and the selector shaft.





10. Install the selector gate and selector shaft to the housing.
- Install the springs.





11. Install the internal selector mechanism cover using sealer.





12. Install the reversing lamp actuating pin.





13. Install the reversing lamp switch.
