Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor

Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor.
- Disconnect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Inspect the OSS bore.





3. Inspect the 0-ring seal for nicks or cuts. Install a new seal as necessary.

Installation

NOTE: Apply a light coat of petroleum jelly to the 0-ring before installation.





1. Install the OSS sensor.
- Connect the OSS sensor electrical connector.

2. Lower vehicle.





3. Check the transmission fluid level, add Motorcraft MERCON (R) Multipurpose automatic transmission fluid or equivalent meeting MERCON (R) specification as necessary.





4. Start the engine and move the transaxle range selector lever through all gear positions.
