Powertrain/Drivetrain Mount Neutralizing






SPECIAL TOOL(S)







1. Using the special tool, support the powertrain.

NOTE: An abnormal vibration can be caused by a component, such as an engine or transaxle support insulator mount, which is acting in a rigid manner because of a distorted or twisted mounting position. As a result, the support insulator does not absorb vibration as it should.







2. Detach the coolant expansion tank.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.







3. Loosen the powertrain mount bolts.








4. Remove the air cleaner and mass air flow (MAF) sensor.
1 Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2 Detach the air intake duct.
3 Remove the air cleaner and MAF sensor.







5. Loosen the transaxle mount nuts.
6. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.







7. Loosen the support insulator bolt.


NOTE: Automatic transaxle shown, manual transaxle similar.







8. Remove the front support insulator.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the support insulator.







9. Using the special tool, align the powertrain.
1 Install the special tool.
2 Tighten the bolts.

NOTE: The special tool is marked with an arrow and "Front".

10. Lower the vehicle.







11. Partially raise the powertrain to allow the mounts to move freely.







12. Tighten the transaxle mount nuts.







13. Tighten the powertrain mount bolts.







14. Remove the special tool.
1 Lower the powertrain.
2 Remove the special tool.

15. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.







16. Remove the special tool.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the special tool.







17. Tighten the rear support insulator bolt.

NOTE: Automatic transaxle shown, manual transaxle similar.







18. Install the front support insulator.
19. Lower the vehicle.







20. Install the air cleaner and MAF sensor.
1 Install the air cleaner and MAF sensor.
2 Connect the air intake duct.
3 Connect the electrical connectors.







21. Install the coolant expansion tank.
