Steering Gear: Description and Operation

The power steering gear is of the conventional rack and pinion type. There are two steering gears used:

^ 67.8 mm rack travel with I4.
^ 66.3 mm rack travel for V6 models.
^ 62.3 mm rack travel for SVT vehicles fitted with 205/55 R16 tires. The SVT steering gear has internal travel restrictors that allow the larger tires to be used without interference problems.
