Alternator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the intake air resonator.
1 Disconnect the air cleaner outlet tube.
2 Remove the bolts and nuts.
3 Remove the resonator. Disconnect the vacuum pipe underneath.
3. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors (generator removed for clarity).
4. Disconnect the ground cable.
5. Loosen the right-hand front wheel nuts
6. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
7. Remove the radiator splash shield.
8. Remove the right-hand front wheel.
9. Remove the splash shield.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the splash shield.
10. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.
11. Remove the generator lower retaining bolts.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Remove the generator upper retaining bolt.
14. Lift the generator clear of the engine.
CAUTION: There is a very limited amount of space in which to remove the generator. Do not overstress or damage any hoses or cables.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
