Fuel Rail: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE VAPORS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY IGNITE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect the fuel supply and return pipe spring lock couplings.
3. Remove the fuel supply and return hose retaining clip.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
5. Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip.
6. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.
7. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
8. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold assembly.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE VAPORS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY IGNITE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Install a new fuel injector lower O-ring seal.
^ Lubricate the fuel injector lower O-ring seal with clean engine oil, XO-10W30-QSP or DSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C-153-E, to aid installation.
2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
