Interior Lighting

The interior lighting system consists of:
^ front interior lamp with integral map reading lamp
^ rear interior lamp(if equipped)
^ vanity mirror lamps(if equipped)
^ interior door handle illumination
^ exterior lock cylinder illumination
^ door courtesy lamps
^ footwell courtesy lamps
^ engine compartment lamp
^ luggage compartment lamp

The interior lighting system can be operated by a three position switch which gives:
^ Interior lamps on
^ Interior lamps off
^ Interior lamps on with delay when door open

If the interior lamps are set to delay, as soon as the ignition key is turned to start the engine the lights will go out.

This function as all other timed functions is controlled by the Central Timer Module(CTM). This module controls a number of independent systems by monitoring and controlling inputs and outputs.

When the exterior door handle is lifted on either front doors, the CTM receives an input from a switch mounted on the door. This input triggers the interior lamp function, which switches the interior lamp relay to switch the interior lamps on. The CTM will allow a 12 second period to pass before extinguishing the lights. This timer function is reset if any of the inputs are reactivated during this period.

The interior lamp delay function can also be triggered by opening any of the doors. The door entry switch supplies the input to trigger the interior lamp function.
