Heater Core: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
4. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Disconnect the vacuum line from the engine.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Console.
7. Detach the Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor and position aside.
8. Disconnect the vacuum supply line from the vacuum reservoir tank
9. Disconnect the air distributor from the heater/evaporator core housing (shown removed).
10. Remove the heater outlet floor duct from the heater/evaporator core housing.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Slide the air duct upwards.
3 Release the retaining tabs on each side and remove the heater outlet floor duct.
11. Remove the heater core cover and core.
- Release the four retaining clips and remove the heater core cover and core.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Check heating and air conditioning system for normal operation.
