Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair

Special Tools:

Removal
1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Remove the camshaft pulleys.
- Remove the bolts.





3. Remove camshaft bearing cap No. 5.
- Remove the camshaft oil seals.

Installation





1. Thinly coat camshaft bearing cap No. 5 with Gasket Maker F8AZ-19B508-AB meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G348-A5.
2. Install a new exhaust camshaft oil seal.





3. Install camshaft bearing cap No. 5.





4. Using the special tool, press in the intake camshaft oil seal.





5. Bring the oil feed ring hole right to the top.





6. NOTE: If the lug is not centered between the oil bores and the mark, install a new exhaust camshaft timing belt pulley.

1 The lug is centered between the oil bores and the mark.
2 The lug must locate in the hole.

7. NOTE: Do not yet tighten the bolts.

Slide the timing belt pulleys onto the camshafts and screw in the timing belt pulley bolts.
8. Install a new timing belt.
