Removal and Installation
RemovalAll Vehicles
CAUTION: If brake fluid is spilt on the paint, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
1. NOTE: Make sure the filler cap does not become contaminated.
Remove the reservoir filler cap.
1 Disconnect the low fluid level warning indicator switch electrical connector.
2 Remove the cap.
2. Using a suitable suction device drain the brake master cylinder reservoir.
Vehicles with manual transaxle
3. Disconnect the clutch feed hose.
All vehicles
4. NOTE: Cap the brake tube connections to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
Detach the brake master cylinder brake tubes.
5. CAUTION: Release the brake booster vacuum by removing the vacuum hose.
Remove the brake master cylinder.
6. Remove the reservoir from the brake master cylinder.
- Detach the clips.
7. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
Installation
1. Install new O-ring seals.
2. CAUTION: Before installing the master cylinder make sure the vacuum seal is in place and the mating faces are clean.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
3. Bleed the brake system.
