Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the steering column. For additional information, refer to Steering.
2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Console, Floor
3. Remove the radio chassis. For additional information, refer to Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc.







4. Detach the control opening finish panel.
1 Remove the two screws.
2 Pull the finish panel forwards.







5. Remove the control opening finish panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the vacuum lines.







6. Lower the central junction box.
- Pull the lever and swing the central junction box down.
- Disconnect the harness from the central junction box.







7. Disconnect the central junction box electrical connectors.







8. Disconnect the five harness electrical connectors.







9. Detach the right-hand scuff plate.
1 Remove the push pins.
2 Remove the screw.
3 Position the scuff plate to one side.







10. Locally detach the right-hand scuff plate insulation.







11. Disconnect the right-hand scuff plate electrical connectors.
1 Disconnect the antenna wire connector.
2 Remove the ground strap bolt.
3 Disconnect the four right-hand scuff plate electrical connectors.







12. Remove the ground strap bolt.
13. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.







14. Remove the center left-hand instrument panel retaining bolts.







15. Disconnect the assembly line diagnostic link connector.







16. Disconnect the instrument interface module electrical connector.







17. Remove the left-hand instrument panel retaining bolt.
18. Remove the passenger air bag module. For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.







19. Disconnect the components:
- Radio amplifier electrical connectors.
- Air conditioning electronic door actuator motor electrical connector.
- Anti-theft module electrical connector.
- Heater blower motor electrical connector.
- Heater blower motor resistor electrical connector.







20. Remove the center right-hand instrument panel retaining bolts.







21. Disconnect the air bag diagnostic monitor electrical connectors.







22. Remove the lower trim panel retaining clips.







23. Remove the left and right-hand instrument panel main mounting bolt covers.
1 Locally detach the left and right-hand door weather strip.
2 Remove the bolt covers.

24. Remove the left and right-hand instrument panel main mounting bolts.

NOTE: Right-hand shown, Left-hand similar.







25. Partially remove the instrument panel to access and disconnect the defroster tubes.







26. Remove the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
