Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Disconnect the upper Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) electrical connector.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.





4. Remove the radiator splash shield.





5. Disconnect the lower H02S electrical connector.





6. Remove the exhaust pipe.
^ Discard the gaskets.

7. Note: Use a 3/8" socket set.





Remove the exhaust manifold.
^ Discard the gasket.

Installation
1. Note: Tighten the nuts in the sequence shown.





Install the exhaust manifold with a new gasket.





2. Install the exhaust pipe.





3. Connect the lower H02S electrical connector.





4. Install the radiator splash shield.
5. Lower the vehicle.





6. Connect the upper H02S electrical connector.

7. Note: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Connect the battery ground cable.
