Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Detach both tie-rod ends from the wheel knuckles.
2. Attach the spring scale 211-043 to a tie-rod end, pull on the spring scale in line with the steering gear and measure the effort required to move the tie-rod.
3. No free play is allowed, if the force required to move the tie-rod is greater than listed in the specifications in this section, install a new steering gear.
