Vehicles With Speed Control
WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE VAPORS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY IGNITE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.REMOVAL
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube and resonator.
3. Disconnect the fuel supply and return pipe spring lock couplings.
4. Remove the fuel supply and return hose clamp.
5. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
6. Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip.
7. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the bracket.
8. Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle body.
9. Remove the speed control cable from the bracket.
1. Detach the cable from the bracket.
2. Push the retaining clip from the bracket and pull the cable out.
10. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
11. Remove the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector grommet from the engine cover.
12. Disconnect the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector.
13. Position the fuel injection wiring harness to one side.
14. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold assembly.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Install a new fuel injector lower O-ring seal.
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Lubricate the fuel injector lower O-ring seal with clean engine oil, XO-10W30-QSP or DSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C-153-F, to aid installation.
