Torque Converter Stator Support
Special Tools:
Disassembly
1. Remove the converter impeller hub seal.
2. Remove the bearing outer race.
1. Use a pin punch and hammer to carefully drive the bearing outer race from the torque converter stator support.
3. Remove the stator support O-ring.
Assembly
1. Clean the components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts. Perform the following before assembly
- Inspect the torque converter stator support for damage or wear.
2. Use Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer to press the bearing outer race into the torque converter stator support.
3. Apply Motorcraft MERCON(D Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON(R) to the new stator support O-ring and install it on the torque converter stator support. MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.
- Stator support O-ring inner diameter: 82.9 mm (3.264 inch).
4. Use Converter Seal Replacer to install the new converter impeller hub seal.
