Fuel Tank Unit: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. DO NOT WORK ON FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT. LEAKING FUEL MAY CONTACT HOT ENGINE COMPONENTS AND BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

2. Relieve the fuel pressure.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.







4. Disconnect the two fuel delivery module electrical connectors.







5. Remove the four fuel delivery module access cover screws and remove the fuel delivery module access cover.







6. Remove the fuel line clip and disconnect the fuel line.







7. Open the fuel delivery module cover.
1 Remove the retainer ring.
2 Open the cover.







8. Remove the fuel delivery module.
1 Depress the locking tabs.
2 Remove the module.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.


NOTE:
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven.
^ Install a new fuel pump mounting gasket and fuel line clip.
^ Start the engine and check for leaks.
