Clearance

Special Tools:

Note: Crankshaft main bearing journals must be within specification before checking journal clearance.

1. Remove the crankshaft main bearing caps and bearings.





2. Lay a piece of Plastigage off-center and fully across the face of each crankshaft main bearing surface.

3. Note: Do not turn the crankshaft while doing this procedure.

Install and remove the crankshaft and the crankshaft main bearing caps. Torque to specification.





4. Verify the crankshaft journal. clearance. if it is out of specification, replace as necessary.
