Hood Latch Release: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the hood latch.







2. Detach the hood latch control handle and cable from the instrument panel steering column cover.
1 Loosen the nut.
2 Detach the hood latch control handle and cable from the instrument panel steering column cover.







3. Remove the front fender splash shield.
1 Remove the front fender splash shield pushpins.
2 Remove the front fender splash shield screws.

4. Detach the hood latch control handle and cable clips.

5. Attach an appropriate length of wire to the hood latch end of the hood latch control handle and cable.
6. From inside the passenger compartment, remove the hood latch control handle and cable.

INSTALLATION
1. Attach the wire to the hood latch end of the new hood latch control handle and cable and pull the cable into position.







2. Attach the hood latch control handle and cable to the instrument panel steering column cover.
1 Position the hood latch control handle and cable.
2 Install the nut.






3. Attach the hood latch control cable clips and the front fender splash shield.
4. Install the hood latch.
