Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front door trim panel.







2. Remove the screw from the door pull bracket.







3. Remove the watershield.







4. Remove the front door latch remote control link from the link clips.







5. Remove the four screws and remove the access cover.
6. If equipped with power door locks, detach the actuator rod.







7. Detach the door latch rod retainer and the front door latch actuating rod.







8. Detach the front door latch control cylinder rod from the door lock cylinder.
1 Remove the spring clip.
2 Remove the door lock cylinder from the door handle.
3 Detach the door lock cylinder from the front door latch control rod.







9. Remove the screws and remove the front door latch.







INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Make sure the door latch actuating rod is not preloading the latch. It should be clipped in a relaxed state with no slack.
