Reverse Clutch

1. NOTE: Number of pieces in clutch pack will vary with application.

Remove clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring, clutch pressure plate, clutch pack and clutch wave spring.

Snap Ring Service:





2. CAUTION: Do not fully compress reverse clutch support and spring retainer. Damage to spring may occur.

Reverse Clutch And Hub Service:





Using Clutch Spring Compressor 307-015 (T65L-77515-A), remove snap ring and reverse clutch support and spring.





3. Lift out clutch piston and remove reverse clutch piston small seal.





4. Remove reverse clutch piston outer seal.

Assembly





1. Install reverse clutch piston inner seal and reverse clutch piston outer seal (lips facing toward bottom of cylinder) and install reverse clutch piston using Reverse Clutch Piston Seal Protector 307-322 (T94P-77001-PH).





2. Install reverse clutch support and spring.

Snap Ring Service:





3. Compress reverse clutch support and spring using Clutch Spring Compressor 307-015 (T65L-77515-A) and snap ring pliers. Install snap ring.

Reverse Clutch Components:





4. Install clutch pressure spring, clutch pack, pressure plate and snap ring.








5. Check clutch pack clearance using feeler gauge or Dial Indicator with Bracketry 100-002 (TOOL-4201-C) or equivalent. Push firmly downward on the clutch pack. Release pressure and zero dial indicator. Lift pressure plate to the bottom of the clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring. Note dial indicator reading. Take two readings, 180 degrees apart, and determine the average of the two readings. The clearance should be: 0.97-1.63 mm (0.038-0.064 inch). If the clearance is not within specification, selective snap rings are available in the following thicknesses: After installing the correct snap ring, check the clearance.
