Forward Clutch Cylinder

Disassembly





1. NOTE: The number of components in clutch pack will vary with application.

Remove clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring, clutch pressure plate clutch pack and clutch wave spring (if applicable).

Snap Ring Service:




Forward Clutch Hub Assembly:





2. Remove snap ring using Lock Ring Plier DO 1P-77060-A or equivalent and forward clutch support and spring using Clutch Spring Compressor 307-015 (T65L-77515-A).

Clutch Piston Removal:





3. Remove clutch piston assembly from hub.

Inner Piston Seal:




Outer Piston Seal:





4. Remove piston inner and outer seals.

Assembly





1. Install inner and outer piston seals (lip seal facing toward bottom of cylinder) and install clutch piston using Forward/Intermediate Clutch Outer Lip Seal Protector 307-175 (T86P-70548-A).

Forward Clutch Hub Assembly:




Snap Ring Service:





2. Install forward clutch support and spring and snap ring using Clutch Spring Compressor 307-015 T65L-7751A).





3. Install clutch wave spring, clutch pack, clutch pressure plate and clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring.





4. Check clutch pack clearance using feeler gauge or Dial Indicator with Bracketry 100-002 (TOOL-4201-C) or equivalent. Push downward on the clutch pack firmly. Release pressure and zero dial indicator. Lift clutch pressure plate to the bottom of the snap ring. Note dial indicator reading. Take two readings, 180 degrees apart, and determine the average of the two readings. The clearance should be 1.52-1.90 mm (0.060-0.075 inch). If the clearance is not within specification, selective snap rings are available in the following thicknesses:

5. Check the clearance after installing the correct snap ring.
