Differential Fluid Seals

Special Tools:






Removal
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove front tire and wheel assemblies.
3. Remove both halfshafts from vehicle.
4. Install Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and 5 1/2-inch forcing screw (from tool kit 303-335 (T88T-6701-A)) into LH differential seal.

NOTE: The differential fluid seal is a two-piece seal constructed of an outer metal protector and inner rubber seal.

Screw the Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and forcing screw into the metal seal protector using a 1-inch box wrench.
6. Tighten the screw on the end of the tool using a 3/4-inch box wrench until the outer metal seal protector is removed. Remove the metal seal protector from the tool and discard.
7. Install Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and forcing screw into the seal portion using a 1-inch box wrench.
8. Tighten the screw on the end of the tool using a 3/4-inch box wrench until the seal portion is removed and discard the seal.
9. Install Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and 5 1/2-inch forcing screw (from tool kit 303-335 (T88T-6701-A)) into RH differential seal.

10. NOTE: The differential fluid seal is a two-piece seal constructed of an outer metal protector and inner rubber seal.

Screw the Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and forcing screw into the metal seal protector using a 1-inch box wrench.
11. Tighten the screw on the end of the tool using a 3/4-inch box wrench until the outer metal seal protector is removed. Remove the metal seal protector from the tool and discard.





12. Install Front Cover Seal Remover 303-107 (T74P-6700-A) and forcing screw into the seal portion using a 1-inch box wrench.





13. Tighten the screw on the end of the tool using a 3/4-inch box wrench until the seal portion is removed and discard the seal.

Installation
1. Install LH differential fluid seal using Output Seal Replacer 307-157 (T86P-1177-B).
2. Install RH differential fluid seal using Output Seal Replacer 307-157 (T86P-1177-B) with Output Shaft Seal Replacer Pilot 307-317 (T94P-77001-JH).





3. Install both halfshafts into vehicle.
4. Install front tire and wheel assemblies.
5. Lower vehicle.
