Tie Rod Articulation Torque

Special Tool:

This check may be done with the power rack and pinion steering gear on or off the vehicle.
1. Disconnect front wheel spindle tie rod from front wheel knuckle (LH)/front wheel knuckle (RH) using Tie Rod End Remover 211-001 (TOOL-3290-D) or equivalent.
2. Hook Spring Scale 211-034 (T74P-3504-Y) over front wheel spindle tie rod and measure force required to move front wheel spindle tie rod.
3. If force required to move front wheel spindle tie rods is not between 9 Nm and 45 Nm (2 lbs. and 10 1b), replace front wheel spindle tie rod.
