REAR SEAT SAFETY BELT RETRACTORSNOTE:
If both rear seat safety belt retractors require replacement, remove the driver-side and passenger-side components during the same step.
1. Remove the rear seat cushion and backrest cushion.
2. Position the rear door scuff plate(s) away from the lower quarter trim panel. See Figure 16.
3. Position the quarter trim panel(s) away from the quarter panel. See Figure 16.
4. Remove the rear seat safety belt lower anchor bolt(s). See Figure 16.
5. Remove the lower quarter trim panel(s).
6. Position the upper quarter trim panel(s) as shown in Figure 17.
7. Remove the safety belt upper anchor bolt(s), then remove the upper quarter trim panel(s). See Figure 17.
8. Remove the safety belt retractor retaining bolt(s), then remove the safety belt retractor(s). See Figure 18.
9. Install the new safety belt retractor(s). Tighten the retaining bolt(s) to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
10. Position the upper quarter trim panel(s) near the installed position, then route the safety belt webbing through the trim panel.
11. Install the safety belt upper anchor bolt(s). Tighten the anchor bolt(s) to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
12. Install the upper quarter trim panel(s).
13. Position the lower quarter trim panel(s) close to the installed position, then route the safety belt webbing through the trim panel.
14. Install the rear seat safety belt lower anchor bolt(s). Tighten the anchor bolt(s) to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
15. Install the lower quarter trim panel(s).
16. Position the rear door scuff plate(s) in the installed position.
17. Install the rear backrest cushion. Tighten the retainers to 23 Nm (16 lb-ft).
18. Install the rear seat cushion.
