Initial Inspection

Diagnostics for this system require use of the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester or equivalent. The module controlling the system being diagnosed communicates with the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel.

- Use the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester or equivalent connected to the data link connector to retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and to execute self test diagnostics for the air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module.

- If self test is passed and no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are retrieved, GO to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

- If diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are retrieved, GO to the Diagnostic Trouble Code Priority Table to continue diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures

- If the Electronic Crash Sensor module cannot be accessed by the NGS, GO to Pinpoint Test B. B: LFC 24/DTC B1342 - ECS Module Internal Fault
