Fuel Injected Engines
Fuel-injected engines have the following characteristics:- Vehicles equipped with fuel-injected engines use an electric Fuel Pump (FP) module to provide high-pressure fuel to the fuel injectors.
- The high-pressure fuel pump is part of the Fuel Pump (FP) module and is located in the fuel tank.
- The supply line which delivers fuel from the fuel tank to the engine is under pressure during vehicle operation.
- The fuel-injection system has a return line which returns unused fuel from the engine to the fuel tank.
- When fuel-injected engines are turned off, the fuel in the fuel supply lines remains pressurized for long periods of time to provide quick start-ups.
