Liquid Vapor Separator: Description and Operation

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with a 68 liter (18 gallon), non-ORVR fuel tank require the use of two evaporative emission valves. Vehicles equipped with a 61 liter (16 gallon), ORVR fuel tank use only one fuel tank mounted fuel vapor control valve and one fuel vapor vent valve.

- The fuel vapor vent valve is mounted in a rubber grommet or serviced as a fuel vapor control valve assembly on the upper surface of the fuel tank.
- The fuel vapor vent valve uses a small orifice and shut off valve to allow only fuel vapors to pass into the evaporative canister tube and into the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP Canister).
- Is serviced as an assembly with the fuel vapor control valve.
- A vapor space between the fuel level and the fuel tank upper surface must be maintained.
- The vapor space allows for thermal expansion of the fuel.
