Disassembly and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove glove compartment.
3. Remove passenger side air bag module trim cover from instrument panel.

NOTE: The passenger side air bag module trim cover is retained by snap-in tabs.

4. Through glove compartment opening, remove two passenger side air bag module retaining screws.







5. Disconnect two electrical connectors and remove passenger side air bag module.

WARNING: PLACE AIR BAG MODULE ON BENCH WITH TRIM COVER FACING UP TO AVOID POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.







6. Disconnect RH A/C side window demister and hose from A/C accumulator tube support clip and A/C plenum demister adapter on heater air plenum chamber.







7. Remove LH extension A/C side window demister and hose from between LH A/C side window demister and hose and A/C plenum demister adapter on heater air plenum chamber.







8. Remove three screws retaining windshield defroster hose nozzle to instrument panel and remove windshield defroster hose nozzle from instrument panel.







9. Remove two screws retaining RH A/C side window demister and hose to instrument panel and remove from instrument panel.







10. Remove two screws retaining LH A/C side window demister and hose to instrument panel and remove from instrument panel.







11. Remove retaining screw and LH A/C evaporator register duct from instrument panel.
12. Disconnect vacuum hose at vacuum control motor located just above windshield defroster door on heater air plenum chamber.
13. Remove two screws retaining heater air plenum chamber to instrument panel.







14. Remove heater air plenum chamber from instrument panel.
15. Remove two screws retaining center A/C evaporator register duct to instrument panel.







16. Disengage A/C evaporator register duct from RH A/C evaporator register duct and remove from instrument panel.

Instrument Panel - LH:

Instrument Panel - RH:

17. Disengage wire harness from all locators, straps and clips as necessary, including ground wire eyelets.
18. Remove screws retaining instrument panel reinforcement to instrument panel.







19. Separate instrument panel reinforcement from instrument panel.
20. Remove two screws retaining RH A/C evaporator register duct to instrument panel.







21. Disengage RH A/C evaporator register duct from A/C registers and remove from instrument panel.







22. Remove two screws and A/C register from rear of instrument panel.

ASSEMBLY
1. Assemble RH A/C registers and RH A/C evaporator register duct to instrument panel by reversing Disassembly procedure.
2. Assemble instrument panel reinforcement to instrument panel.
3. Assemble instrument panel wire harness to instrument panel and secure to instrument panel reinforcement with all locators, straps and clips, including ground wire eyelets.
4. Assemble center A/C evaporator register duct, heater air plenum chamber, LH A/C evaporator register duct, A/C side window demister and hoses and windshield defroster hose nozzle to instrument panel by reversing Disassembly procedure.
5. Connect two electrical connectors to passenger side air bag module and position passenger side air bag module in instrument panel.
6. Install two module retaining bolts Tighten to 7.6-10.4 N.m (68-92 Lb-In).







7. Install passenger side air bag trim cover by snapping into place on the instrument panel.
8. Install glove compartment.
