Removal
1. Remove crankcase ventilation tube from LH valve cover and remove from engine.
2. Remove retaining nuts for engine control sensor wiring and remove engine control sensor wiring from LH valve cover retainer stud bolts. Position engine control sensor wiring out of way.
3. Remove ignition wires from spark plugs and LH valve cover.

LV Valve Cover Removal Sequence:

4. Loosen valve cover retaining bolts and stud bolts following the removal sequence shown.
5. Carefully remove valve cover from LH cylinder head. Remove integral valve cover gaskets from LH valve cover.


Installation

1. NOTE: Prior to installation, clean valve cover sealing surfaces using a shop towel and Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ- 19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M513392-A. Apply 8 mm (0.31 inch) diameter bead of Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent sealant meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G343-A4 at two places on the valve cover sealing surfaces where the engine front cover and cylinder heads contact.

Follow removal procedure in reverse order.





2. Install new valve cover gaskets onto LH valve cover. Tighten valve cover bolts and stud bolts in sequence shown to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.) within six minutes of applying sealer.
