Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair


Removal
1. Fully release parking brake.
2. Raise vehicle.





3. Remove all tension from parking brake rear cable and conduits by backing off adjusting nut on rear parking brake cable adjuster.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Disconnect release cable from parking brake control release arm and remove release cable grommet from parking brake control.
6. Disconnect wiring connector from parking brake signal switch and bracket.

7. Remove front parking brake cable end from clevis at parking brake control.
8. Remove front parking brake cable and conduit retainer from parking brake control using a 13 mm box-end wrench to press retaining prongs.
9. Remove three nuts retaining parking brake control to front body pillar
10. Remove parking brake control from vehicle.


Installation
1. Locate parking brake control onto the three cowl side studs.
2. Fit front parking brake cable and conduit through its mounting hole seat grommet on front parking brake cable and conduit, press pronged retainer in place. Make sure prongs are securely locked in place. Connect the parking brake control end fitting to clevis at parking brake control.
3. Install retaining nuts to cowl side bracket. Tighten nuts to 26 - 34 Nm (19 - 25 ft. lbs.).
4. Reposition and install fuse panel/junction box.
5. Connect release cable to parking brake control release arm and install release cable grommet to parking brake control.
6. Connect wiring connector to parking brake signal switch and bracket.
7. Raise vehicle. Check parking brake operation and adjust as required. Lower vehicle.
