Rear

Removal
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.





2. Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut.
3. Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit end fitting from parking brake cable equalizer.
4. Drum brakes: Remove LH rear wheel and tire. Remove brake drum assembly.
5. Drum brakes: Disconnect parking brake rear cable and conduit from parking brake lever. Using a 13 mm box-end wrench or screwdriver to press the conduit retaining prongs, remove cable-end pronged fitting from parking brake support plate.
6. Disc brakes: Disconnect parking brake rear cable and conduit end from parking brake lever. Remove E-clip from conduit end of fitting at rear disc brake caliper. Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit from rear disc brake caliper.
7. Remove bolt retaining parking brake rear cable and conduit to body side frame rail.





8. Disengage pronged connector from parking brake cable support bracket. Remove cable assembly.


Installation
1. Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit through inner floor side member bracket. Make sure pronged connector is securely attached.
2. Position parking brake rear cable and conduit along LH rear frame rail and secure into position with retaining bolt. Tighten to 11 - 14 Nm (98 - 123 inch lbs.).
3. Drum brakes: Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit end into parking brake support plate and push pronged cable end into parking brake support plate hole. Make sure prongs are locked in place.
4. Disc brakes: Insert parking brake rear cable and conduit into rear disc brake caliper and install E-clip.
5. Attach parking brake rear cable and conduit to parking brake lever.
6. Install brake drum and wheel assembly.

7. CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nut in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up development of brake roughness, shudder, and vibration.

Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten lug nut to 115 - 142 Nm (85 - 104 ft. lbs.) using Rotunda Accutorq Lug Nut Socket 164-RO303 or equivalent, on a 1/2 inch air impact wrench or use torque wrench.
8. Adjust parking brake.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Check for proper operation.
