Rear Disc Brake
Observe the following precautions when servicing the rear disc brake system:^ Keep grease or any other foreign material off rear brake shoe and lining surfaces and braking surfaces of rear disc brake rotor, and external surfaces of wheel hub during service operation. In handling rear disc brake rotor and rear disc brake caliper assemblies, avoid deformation, nicking or scratching of rear brake shoes and linings and rear disc brake rotor.
^ If a rear disc brake piston and adjuster is removed for any reason, replace piston seal and dust boot. Be careful not to damage rear disc brake piston and adjuster; protect it from contact with any metal or sharp-edged objects.
^ During removal and installation of a wheel assembly, be careful not to interfere with or damage rear wheel disc brake shield or the wheel cylinder bleeder screw.
^ Do not attempt to clean or restore any oil- or grease-soaked rear brake shoes and linings. When contaminated linings are found, replace rear brake shoes and linings in complete axle sets and wipe rotor braking surfaces clean.
^ Before installing brake rotor, thoroughly clean all rust and dirt from the hub surface that contacts the rotor, the rotor surface that contacts the hub and the rotor surface that contacts the wheel.
^ Install the LH and RH rear disc brake calipers on the correct side of the vehicle to be sure wheel cylinder bleeder screw is in the top-most position for proper purging of air from the rear brake system during bleeding.
^ After any service, pump the brake pedal to obtain a firm brake pedal before moving the vehicle.
