Throttle Body: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and outlet tube.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
^ Remove the wiring retainer from the throttle body stud.
5. Disconnect the speed control cable.
1 Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle lever.
2 Detach the speed control cable from the bracket.
3 Position the speed control cable to one side.
6. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
1 Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle bracket.
2 Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip.
3 Position the accelerator cable to one side.
7. Remove the accelerator bracket bolts and the accelerator bracket.
8. Remove the throttle body.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the nut.
3 Remove the throttle body.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE
^ If scraping is necessary,do not damage gasket surfaces or drop material into manifold.
^ Clean the throttle body and intake manifold mating surfaces and install a new gasket.
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
