Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe.





2. Remove the exhaust support bracket.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the bracket.





3. Remove the A/C compressor heat shield.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the heat shield.





4. Drain the engine oil.





5. Remove the flywheel access cover.





6. Remove the oil pan bolts from the transaxle housing.





7. Remove the oil pan.
- Remove the bolts and studs in the sequence shown.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Clean and inspect oil pan and cylinder block sealing surfaces using Metal surface cleaner.

Installation

1. NOTE: Install the oil pan and tighten the bolts within six minutes of applying sealer.





Apply an 8 mm dot of silicone gasket and sealant to the sealing surface on the cylinder block.

2. NOTE: Note the locations of the studs.

NOTE: A new oil pan gasket must be installed when the oil pan is being installed.





Install the oil pan and loosely install the bolts and studs.





3. Install the oil pan to transaxle housing bolts.

4. NOTE: Tighten the bolts and nuts in the indicated tightening sequence.





Install the oil pan.





5. Install the flywheel access cover.





6. Install the oil pan drain plug.
- Install a new gasket.





7. Install the A/C compressor heat shield.





8. Install the exhaust support bracket.
9. Install exhaust Y-pipe.
10. Fill the engine with the specified oil.
