Output Shaft Speed Sensor


Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Remove the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor.
- Disconnect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Inspect the OSS bore.





3. Inspect the O-ring seal for nicks or cuts; install a new as necessary.

Installation

NOTE: Apply a light coat of petroleum jelly to the O-ring
before installation.





1. Install the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor.
- Connect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
2. Lower vehicle.





3. Check the transmission fluid level, add Motorcraft MERCON(R) Multi-purpose automatic transmission fluid or equivalent meeting MERCON(R) specification as necessary. MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.





4. Start the engine and move the transaxle range selector lever through all gear positions.
