Attachment III - Technical Information
Inspection Procedure1. Park the car on a level surface.
2. Firmly apply the park brake.
3. Rotate the ignition key to the "ON" position.
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Place transmission selector lever in the "NEUTRAL" position.
6. With the selector lever in "NEUTRAL":
a. try to rotate the ignition key to the "LOCK" position
b. try to remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder
7. Results:
a. If the ignition key can be rotated to the "LOCK" position and the key can be removed from the lock cylinder:
The Ignition key Removal Inhibit System on this vehicle is NOT functioning properly. Do not drive, demonstrate or deliver this vehicle until repair is completed. Call 1-800-325-5621 for further instructions. For delivered units, provide a "Loaner" vehicle to the customer until repairs are completed.
b. If the ignition key cannot be rotated to the "LOCK" position AND the key cannot be removed from the ignition switch.
The Ignition Key Removal Inhibit System on this vehicle is functioning properly. Return vehicle to service.
