Turn Signal Switch: Description and Operation

Part 1 Of 2:

Part 2 Of 2:

The multifunction switch, located on the left-hand side of the steering column, controls the following:
^ hazard/flasher lamps
^ turn signal lamps
^ headlamp high beam
^ headlamp flash feature

To activate high beam, move the lever away from the steering wheel to the stop position. To activate the headlamp flash feature move the lever towards the steering wheel.

The hazard flasher system is an integral part of the multifunction switch. The system operates independently from the ignition switch. The flasher indicator system is deactivated when the hazard flasher system is on.

^ The hazard flasher switch is integrated into the turn signal/high-low beam lamp switch. It protrudes through the upper steering column shroud.

^ When the hazard flasher switch is switched on, all four turn signal lamps and the turn signal indicator in the instrument cluster are supplied with a voltage through the turn signal relay.
