Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING:
- Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable before disconnecting any supplemental restraint system electrical connectors. Failure to follow this warning could cause premature deployment and may cause personal injury.
- Failure to follow any of the warnings that follow may increase the possibility of accidentally deploying the air bag(s) and may cause personal injury.
- Do not use radio key code savers when working on the supplemental restraint system.
- Always wear safety glasses when working on an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling the air bag module.
- Always carry a live air bag module with the air bag and trim cover pointed uppermost away from your body. An accidental deployment will then deploy with minimal chance of injury.
- When placing a live air bag module on a bench or other surface, make sure the trim cover is uppermost. Do not place the air bag module where it may be knocked or fall off.
- Repair is made by installing a new part only. Do not install new parts unless the original part is damaged or found to be faulty after the completion of the correct diagnostic procedures.
- Never prove the connectors on air bag modules or any other supplemental restraint system electrical connectors.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Wait one minute.
2. Remove the center console.
3. Disconnect the air bag control module electrical connectors.
