Fuel Injection Supply Manifold

Removal

WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE VAPORS ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY IGNITE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

Note: The OE shows one procedure for the Fuel Injection Supply Manifold, even though there are 3 distinct fuel systems:
Returnable Fuel
Mechanical Returnless Fuel
Electronic Returnless Fuel

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Release

Air Cleaner Outlet Tube:

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

Air Intake Resonator:

3. Remove the air intake resonator.

Fuel Pressure Sensor:

4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure sensor.
Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel pressure sensor.

Fuel Pressure Sensor Electrical Connector:

5. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector.






6. Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip.






7. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.

Speed Control Cable:

8. Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle body (if equipped).

Speed Control Cable Bracket:

9. Disconnect the speed control cable from the bracket (if equipped).






10. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

VCT Solenoid:

11. Disconnect the variable camshaft timing solenoid electrical connector.
12. Position the fuel charging wiring harness to one side.






13. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold assembly.

Installation

Note: Install a new fuel injector lower 0-ring seal and lubricate the fuel injector lower 0-ring seal with clean engine oil, XO-10W30-QSP or DSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C-153-E, to aid installation.

Resonator Torques:

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
