Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer concern, by operating the system in question.2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage, refer to the following chart.
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Electrical
^ Loose or corroded connectors
^ Circuit
^ Damaged wiring harness
^ Damaged ABS module
^ Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
^ Damaged air-bag module
3. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect New Generation Star (NGS) to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the NGS tester menu. If the NGS does not communicate with the vehicle, check:
^ that the program card is properly installed.
^ the connections to the vehicle.
^ the ignition switch position.
^ If the NGS still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the NGS tester manual.
4. Carry out the DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK using NGS tester. IF NGS tester responds with: CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70= ALL MODULES NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, refer to System Precheck, Pinpoint Test A.
5. If no modules listed on the NGS are related to the concern, return to the procedure that brought you here.
6. If concern is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
