Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Release the parking brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the floor console.

5. Disconnect the parking brake control warning indicator switch electrical connector.

6. Pull the parking brake cable through the opening in the floor.

Installation

NOTE: A new parking brake control is supplied with the self-adjust mechanism preset.

1. To set the preload of the parking brake control self-adjust mechanism, lift the parking brake control lever to the fully raised position.

2. Extend the parking brake cable.
1 Press down the pawl.
2 Simultaneously pull the parking brake to extract 40 mm of cable.

3. Release the tension on the parking brake cable.
1 Press down the pawl.
2 Simultaneously release the tension on the cable.
- The cable self-adjust mechanism will hold the cable until load is applied to the cable.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure
