Rear Door Latch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery negative lead.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
3. Remove the door pull.







4. Peel back the door watershield.
- Using a plastic knife (disposable cutlery), cut through the Butyl strip to enable the watershield to be peeled back.

CAUTION: Do not touch the adhesive surface as re-bonding will be impaired. Do not attempt to peel the weather shield from the door without cutting the Butyl strip.








5. Disconnect the door latch remote control illumination lamp electrical connectors.







6. Remove the latch remote control.
1. Remove the screws.
2. Pry the handle housing out.







7. Detach the actuating rod from the latch.
1. Pry the clip open.
2. Detach the lower end of the rod from the latch.







8. Cut and discard the cable tie.







9. Remove the latch screws.







10. Remove the latch assembly from the door.







11. Remove the latch cover.







12. Disconnect the door lock actuator electrical connector.







13. Remove the latch remote control link.
1. Pull the outer cable from the latch bracket.
2. Rotate the cable to align the inner cable with the slot and remove the cable.







14. Remove the latch actuator (if equipped).
1. Remove the actuator retaining screws.
2. Remove the actuator.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Ensure the door lock actuator is aligned with the latch.
