Sound Systems
The combinations of audio system components available on these vehicles as original equipment are:
^ Electronic Search Radio (ESR) audio control unit
^ Electronic Search Radio with digital audio compact disc player
^ Electronic Search Cassette (ESC) audio control unit.

Base System
The base system consists of an audio control unit and four speakers.

Premium System
The premium system consist of an audio control unit, audio amplifier and four premium speakers.

Cassette Tape Player
Before turning off the audio control unit or the ignition switch, always EJECT any cassette being played. Leaving the tape mechanism stopped while a tape is engaged can result in damage to the tape, pinch roller or capstan.

Compact Disc Player, Digital Audio
Error messages
The Electronic Search Radio with Digital Audio Compact Disc Player is designed to diagnose and display the following conditions:
^ Error Disc Focus error, usually means disc was inserted upside-down.
^ Too Hot - The disc mechanism will stop playing if the temperature reaches 75°C (167°F).
The digital compact disc player has a heat protection circuit to protect the laser diode. If the temperature of the digital audio compact disc player reaches 75°C (167°F), the heat detection circuit will shut off the digital audio compact disc player and HOT will appear in the display. When the temperature is within normal operating range the HOT indicator will turn off and the digital audio compact disc player will again be operational.
