Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify that the concern is with the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system and not some other computer controlled problem.
2. Inspect to determine if any of the following mechanical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Improperly installed fuel filler cap
^ Damaged (EVAP) test port
^ Loose or disconnected components.
^ Damaged (EVAP) canister or vent solenoid
^ Damaged/pinched canister hoses.
^ Damaged/pinched fuel vapor control valve tube assembly.

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, determine the symptom and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
4. Reinstall or install a new evaporative emission hose clamp when removed or damaged during testing procedures.
