Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM CONTAINS FUEL VAPOR AND CONDENSED FUEL VAPOR. ALTHOUGH NOT PRESENT IN LARGE QUANTITIES, IT STILL PRESENTS THE DANGER OF EXPLOSION OR FIRE. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FROM THE BATTERY TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL SPARK OCCURRING, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF FUEL VAPOR OR FUEL LIQUID IS PRESENT IN THE AREA.







2. Disconnect the electrical connector.







3. Remove the canister vent solenoid hose assembly from the retainer.







4. Remove the fuel vapor hose assembly from the retainer.







5. Separate the fuel vapor hose assembly at the elbow.







6. Separate the canister vent solenoid hose assembly at the union.







7. Remove the attaching hardware bolts and remove the EVAP canister with bracket assembly.







8. Disconnect the fuel vapor hose assembly elbow at the evaporative emissions canister.







9. Remove the canister vent solenoid from the evaporative emissions canister.







10. Remove the evaporative emissions canister.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: A canister and bracket assembly leak test should be performed before installation on the vehicle.

2. Leak test the system.
3. Perform the Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle.
