Right






Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the intake manifold.
3. Remove the valve covers.
4. Remove the engine front cover.
5. Remove the spark plugs.
6. Remove the A/C evaporator housing.





7. Position the clamp out of the way and remove the hose.





8. Remove the nut and the cylinder head ground strap.





9. Disconnect the EGR transducer.





10. Remove the stud.





11. Remove the water bypass tube.
12. Inspect the O-rings and replace as necessary.
13. Remove the timing chain/belts.





14. Remove the bolts and the RH timing chain guide.





15. Remove the bolts and the LH timing chain guide.





16. Remove the bolt.
17. Raise the vehicle.
18. Disconnect the right and the left exhaust manifold.
19. Lower the vehicle.
20. Remove the bolts from the cylinder head.





21. Loosen the RH bolts in three one-turn passes in the sequence shown and remove the bolts.





22. Remove the RH cylinder head.





23. Remove the gasket.





24. Clean the sealing surface and clean out the bolt holes.

Installation





1. Make sure the sealing surface and bolt holes are clean and dry.





2. Install a new gasket.





3. Install the RH cylinder head.





4. Install the bolts and tighten in sequence in six steps:
^ Step 1: Tighten to 37-43 Nm (28-31 ft. lbs.).
^ Step 2: Tighten an additional 85-95 degrees.
^ Step 3: Loosen the bolts a minimum of one full turn, 360 degrees.
^ Step 4: Tighten to 37-43 Nm (28-31 ft. lbs.).
^ Step 5: Tighten an additional 85-95 degrees.
^ Step 6: Tighten an additional 85-95 degrees.
5. Raise the vehicle.





6. Install the exhaust to the exhaust manifolds.
7. Lower the vehicle.





8. Install the bolt.





9. Install the LH timing chain guide and tighten the bolts.





10. Install the RH timing chain guide and tighten the bolts.
11. Install the timing chain/belts.





12. Install the water bypass tube.





13. Install the stud.





14. Connect the EGR transducer.





15. Install the ground strap and tighten the nut.





16. Install the heater water hose and position the clamp.
17. Install the A/C evaporator housing.
18. Install the spark plugs.
19. Install the engine front cover.
20. Install the valve covers.
21. Install the intake manifold.
22. Connect the battery ground cable.
