Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the electronic audio system with the engine running and the vehicle in and out of motion.

NOTE: The Audio Control Module (ACM) is also referred to as the audio unit.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Audio unit physically damaged, misaligned or with any control(s) inoperative
^ Digital audio compact disc player physically damaged, misaligned or with any control(s) inoperative
^ Antenna or antenna cable physically damaged or with misaligned connection(s)
^ Radio speakers and mounting/speaker cones physically damaged or misaligned
^ Radio ignition interference capacitors, radio frequency interference suppression bond and radio receiver hood bonding strap misaligned (also check for cleanliness and metal-to-metal contact)

Electrical
^ Battery Junction Box (BIB) Fuse 3 (25 A)
^ Central Junction Box (CJB) Fuse 11 (5 A)
^ Connector(s)
^ Ignition switch
^ Circuit(s)

3. If the fault is not visually evident, proceed to diagnose the audio system by:
^ Entering the speaker walk-around test.
^ Entering ACM self-diagnostic mode (P100i only).
