Leakage Checks
Check1. Clean the outside surface of the torque converter.
2. Install Torque Converter Leak Check Tool and Gasket into converter hub.
3. Install torque converter with installed Torque Converter Leak Check Tool and Gasket into press.
4. WARNING: ALWAYS FOLLOW PROPER SAFETY PROCEDURES WHILE USING PRESS. FAILURE TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
Secure press. Apply enough force from press to seal tool into torque converter.
5. NOTE: Use clean dry shop air.
Apply air pressure to valve on Torque Converter Leak Check Tool and Gasket.
6. Release pressure and then slowly release press. Remove air hose.
7. Rotate torque converter and tool then reinstall into press with tool up.
8. WARNING: ALWAYS FOLLOW PROPER SAFETY PROCEDURES WHILE USING PRESS. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
Secure press. Apply enough force from press seal tool into torque converter.
9. NOTE: Use clean dry shop air.
Apply air pressure to valve on leak check tool
10. With air pressure applied to valve, inspect for leaks at converter hub, seams and studs. A soap bubble solution may be applied around those areas to aid in diagnosis. If leaks are present, replace converter.
11. Remove air hose. Release pressure and then slowly release press. Remove the converter. Remove the tool.
