Front
Removal
1. Center the steering wheel and lock in position.
2. Disconnect the steering column shaft from the flexible coupling.
^ Rotate the clamp plate to disengage.
3. CAUTION: When removing the floor seal do not damage the sealing clips.
Remove the floor seal from the bulkhead.
1 Release the retaining clips.
2 Disconnect the upper retaining clip.
3 Remove the floor seal.
4. Loosen the front road wheel nuts.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the front road wheels.
7. Remove the radiator splash shield.
8. Remove the splash shields.
Vehicles With Manual Transaxle
9. Remove the rear support insulator center bolt.
Vehicles With Automatic Transaxle
10. Detach the rear support insulator.
All Vehicles
11. Detach the stabilizer bar connecting links.
12. Using a suitable transmission Jack support the subframe assembly.
13. Detach the subframe.
1 Loosen the front bolts.
2 Remove the rear bolts.
14. Lower the subframe to gain access to the stabilizer bar retaining clamp bolts.
15. Remove the stabilizer bar (two clamp bolts each side).
Installation
All Vehicles
1. Install the stabilizer bar (two clamp bolts each side).
2. Using the special tools, align the subframe.
1 Install the alignment pins in the subframe alignment holes.
2 Install the locking pins.
3 Tighten the alignment pin sleeves.
3. Install the subframe bolts.
4. Remove the special tools (reverse the installation procedure).
5. Install the stabilizer bar connecting links.
Vehicles With Automatic Transaxle
6. Install the rear support insulator.
Vehicles With Manual Transaxle
7. Install the rear support insulator center bolt.
All Vehicles
8. Install the splash shields.
9. Install the radiator splash shield.
10. Install the front road wheels.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Install the floor seal.
13. WARNING: Install a new pinch bolt. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
Install the steering column shaft to the flexible coupling with a new bolt.
